The ICU staff demands the resignation of the medical director of the Mateu Orfila Hospital
The Minister of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía , Jesús Aguirre, has denied this Wednesday that there is “collapse” in hospitals, where at the level of intensive care units (ICU), “30% of the beds” are occupied for Covid patients but “there is a cushion” in case the income curve increases, while ensuring that vaccines “will arrive in the first quarter of next year” and that they estimate to have “a volume of Andalusian population vaccinated by spring 50 or 70% “.
Regarding the healthcare pressure in Andalusia, Aguirre pointed out that with the prevention plan for 4,500 Covid patients that “we started about a month ago, there is greater availability than ever of hospital beds and ICUs.”
Thus, he added that “a fifth of hospital beds are occupied by Covid patients , but 30% all beds are free in case the hospital admissions curve increases”, and that at the ICU level, “30% of ICU beds are occupied by Covid patients but there is also a mattress there. “
